Chrysler is sponsoring a PAPA preview and drive day Friday, Oct. 17, as part of the Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year Awards, which will follow that Saturday with final judging by athletes from around the country and award presentations.

This will be the 11th year for the ALV program, co-founded by long-time Phoenix Automotive Press Association member Nina Russin. The goal, she says, is to recognize the cars and trucks that best meet the needs of people with active lifestyles, and to give the automakers a better understanding of what people who run, cycle, swim and so forth need vehicles to do.

There will be a lunch and time for PAPA members and other journalists to drive and evaluate ALV entries. There also will be a walk-around of the new Jeep Renegade.

“We also will be looking for volunteers to help out with the program, so if you think you can help let me know,” said PAPA President Cathy Luebke (clariz@cox.net).
